The T.A.R.G.E.T. program is committed to providing academic, emotional, and social growth opportunities for the gifted and talented elementary students of Tyler ISD.  T.A.R.G.E.T. strives to meet the unique needs and challenges of these students to prepare them to be life-long learners in a rapidly changing society through a program which encompasses higher order thinking skills, creative/critical thinking, problem solving, inquiry, and research.

TAGT Spotlight

The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) is an organization of educators and parents dedicated to meeting the unique needs of gifted and talented students. TAGT is the nation’s largest state advocacy group of its kind, providing nearly 3,000 members and friends of gifted youth a forum for exchanging ideas and information about the education of gifted and talented students. The Great Outdoors Robotics Competition
5th Grade Parents, you are cordially invited to join us this week, May 13-17, on your child's TARGET day for our robotics competion.  It will take place in the cafeteria from 9:00-10:30.  We hope to see you all there!

Bullseye Forum

Final Bullseye Forum of the Year!

Parents, grandparents, and friends...please join us for the last Bullseye Forum for this school year.  You are sure to see lots of creatively presented information about what your child has been learning at the end of this T.A.R.G.E.T. year.  The dates for the Forum are May 20-24 on your child's normally scheduled T.A.R.G.E.T. day at 1:00 p.m.  Please remember to arrive at least 15 minutes early to park, check in at our office, and find your seat.  We looks forward to seeing you all there!

Parents and students, please join us for our Spring Open House on Tuesday, May 21, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  Come show off your final projects and all of the great work you have done throughout the year!

Orientation

New Parent Orientation

We would like to welcome all parents of the new T.A.R.G.E.T. students for the 2013-2014 school year to join us for an orientation on Tuesday, May 21, from 4:30-5:30.  The orientation will be held upstairs in the Gary Auditorium.  You will have an opportunity to meet and hear from our principal and teachers regarding procedures and curriculum, as well as tour the classrooms and building.  We hope you will join us for this informative evening!

Mrs. Hood Chosen as T.A.R.G.E.T. Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mrs. Oralia Hood, the new T.A.R.G.E.T. Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013!  Mrs. Hood is an outstanding educator with many years of teaching experience in several schools throughout TISD.  We are very fortunate to have her here working with our GT students.  We know she will represent T.A.R.G.E.T. very well at our district Teacher of the Year banquet in May.
